My name is Emily Grice. I was born in Kingston, Ontario. I grew up in the countryside of Frontenac and Hastings Counties. Both sides of my family have lived in this part of North America for over 150 years. They were courageous Irishmen forced to flee from famine, Germans seeking stability after powerful reformation, and English men and women searching for prosperity and religious freedom. Farmers and labourers, soldiers, servants and ministers. Pioneers whose roots have never been pulled up. Somehow their stories find roads into my stories, the ones I live and the ones I write. There are stories everywhere, stories that need to be told now. And I, for one, am up for the job.
